Why must a feed additive or premix specify target species and production stage?

Authorised use levels, nutritional needs and safety margins can differ by species and animal category. A broiler starter, layer, calf, dairy-cow, lamb, goat or equine application is not interchangeable merely because the ingredient is the same. The product brief should define the intended species, production stage, final-feed intake assumptions and any prohibited or restricted uses. This enables correct formulation, label directions and evaluation against the target market’s authorisation conditions.
