The boundary can be crossed when the product contains a veterinary drug or is presented for disease treatment, prevention or another medicinal purpose under the relevant jurisdiction. In the United States, medicated feed contains an FDA-approved animal drug; in the EU, veterinary medicines and feed additives follow distinct frameworks. Do not solve a classification issue by renaming the product “premix.” The formula, claims, route and intended use need formal market-specific review.
